When will Rosell, Ferrer, Ingla and Salvat appear?

Barcelona presidential candidates Santiago Salvat, Jaume Ferrer and Marc Ingla are expected to present their projects in the coming days. Sandro Rosell would wait some more.


Salvat
Catalan businessman Santiago Salvat [picture] will present his candidacy tomorrow at 1 pm at the Olympic and Sports Museum in Barcelona.

Ferrer
Barcelona assets vice-president Jaume Ferrer will on Wednesday present his website, his campaign seat and his first slogan.

Ingla
Former Barcelona marketing and sports vice-president Marc Ingla will present his project and his campaign in the middle of next week.

Rosell
Former Barcelona sports vice-president Sandro Rosell had planned to present his project at his campaign seat on Wednesday 12 May in case Barcelona would have qualified for the Champions league final. The presentation could now be postponed until after the last league game.

Ferrer gets new support from board members

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that several Barcelona board members have joined the candidacy of Barcelona assets vice-president and presidential candidate Jaume Ferrer after the latter got the support of Barcelona president Joan Laporta and the majority of the board at the end of March (read more here).

Since the public announcement of his candidacy in December last year, Ferrer could already count on the support of five board members: institutional vice-president Albert Perrín and directors Alfons Castro, Jacint Borràs, Josep Anton Colomer and Jordi Torrent (read more here).

Since then at least four more directors would have given their support to Ferrer: economic vice-president Joan Boix and directors Magda Oranich, Maria Elena Fort and Patrcik Auset. Barcelona sports vice-president Rafael Yuste [picture] is also said to be close to joining Ferrer. Catalan sports paper El 9 Esportiu claims that Yuste will certainly support Ferrer.

Barcelona first vice-president Alfons Godall wouldn't have got a formal offer from Ferrer to be part of his team and has in the meantime joined the candidacy of former marketing and sports vice-president Marc Ingla. Barcelona directors Josep-Ignasi Macià and Xavier Bagués, who supported the candidacy of Godall, wouldn't have been contacted by any of the candidates.

Ferrer would also have offered Barcelona treasurer Xavier Sala i Martín a place in his board team but the latter reportedly didn't yet give his final response. The offer would nevertheless have caused some unrest in the candidacy of Ferrer and would be the reason why a possible big name that would join Ferrer has dropped out.

The Decalogue of Jaume Guixa (2)

Barcelona presidential candidate Jaume Guixà has published a "decalogue" in which he explains the ten key points of his election program.


5. With Jaume Guixà, construction of a new Palau, with a capacity up to 17.000 spectators

The Palau does not meet the current standards and regulations
• A new Palau with more seats, up to a maximum of 17.000, will be built on the same spot as the current one.
• The members and supporters will choose the winning project out of two finalists.

6. With Jaume Guixà, we will strengthen the sports team and the training centre

To maintain the identity of our game
• The sports director will be replaced by a sports management team consisting of three experts, in coordination with the coach of the first team.
• The links between the different categories - first team, second team and youth - will be improved.
• The quality of the youth academy will be maintained.
• A director will be appointed for each of the sports sections.
• The women's teams of the different sections of FC Barcelona will be strenghtened.
• We will start teams for disabled athletes.

The training centre, with the best youth academy, open to the world
• The finishing of the training centre will be stimulated.
• The training centre will be strengthened as to become a High Performance Centre.

A more international youth academy
• We will export the youth concept to different countries, as a model of sports residence for youth players.

7. With Jaume Guixà, we want to become the number one in the world regarding revenues

We do not want Barça to become a joint stock company because of financial mismanagement
• Increase of the own means to grow in a sustainable way in the sports and economic area. The spirit of the preservation and improvement of the assets will be recovered (no to questionable investments).
• We will use the extraordinary results of our first teams to increase the profits of the club (through operation benefits and without selling assets), and reduce the current, and very worrying, economic debt in the short to medium term.
• Drastic reduction of the unnecessary expenses.
• The revenues of television rights and transfers of players will be improved, and the Barça brand will be strengthened, maintaining its visibility in all our teams and on all our merchandising.
• The structure and the cost of Barça TV will be optimized, television programs will be promoted throughout the country, and we'll arrange free games for members and fan clubs.

Godall confirms he is part of Ingla candidacy

In an interview with Catalan sports paper El 9 Esportiu, Barcelona first vice-president Alfons Godall has confirmed the reports (read more here) that he and former vice-presidents Ferran Soriano and Albert Vicens will be part of the project of Barcelona presidential candidate Marc Ingla:

"It's very clear to us that there is a gap in the centre of the electoral scene that is worth filling. We are a project between a continuism because of the continuism, a bit driven by the outgoing president, and a change because of the change led by Sandro Rosell, driven by a certain spirit of revenge and grudge.

There are many fans who are waiting for a candidacy in which they can trust, a candidacy of experience and future. We are very motivated and we think we have a lot of chances to win. This is a team with a candidate. It will be a team project, contrary to other self-centred ego projects. My role? I want to actively take part and I'm at the disposal of Marc."

In an interview with Catalan sports paper Sport, Godall has said more or less the same.

Salvat wants to help others to collect signatures

Speaking to Catalan radio station COM Ràdio, Catalan surgeon Miquel Llobet [picture, on the right], who is part of the board team of presidential candidate Santiago Salvat [picture, on the left], has said that their candidacy will help other candidates to collect the signatures of club members that are needed to take part in the final vote:

"One needs the signatures, they are needed to be able to defend your ideas. We will defend our ideas when the time is there but I propose - and I was just talking about this with someone of the candidacy of Alexis Plaza - that in case we pass the number of signatured needed, we will give signatures to others so that they would also be able to defend their ideas.

Won't those signatures been invalid? No, because our name won't be on it. If we see that we are reaching a number of people that is more than what is needed, we will guide the stream to others because we are profoundly democratic. We think that all members should have the same chance to expose their ideas. The collection of the signatures shouldn't be a pre-referendum."
